Technology strikes again - we are now on Facebook!
For those who have joined the Facebook revolution or if you are just curious, our page is called “56th Australian National Square Dance Convention Adelaide 2015”. You can search for that on facebook.com or alternatively just click on the Facebook link on our website www.adelaide2015.com. Have a look at our page and hopefully you’ll “Like” it and perhaps comment on it.
Decorations for our venue - The Gardens Recreation Centre in Parafield Gardens - are high on our priority list. Our initial thoughts are to get a lot of plain black material and also red material or red carpet. So if you know where we could get some, please let one of our committee know or contact our secretary.
The design of our registration form is well under way, and will be presented to the committee at our next meeting in August. It will be available to overseas dancers later this year and to Australian dancers from 23rd April 2014 (the start of next year’s Convention in Canberra). Ticket prices are in the process of being finalised - just be aware that individual session tickets are not available at Australian National Conventions. This is the only way National Conventions can cover costs of venue, staging and sound equipment necessary for such a large event. So why not start putting a dollar or so aside each week to cover the cost of your ticket.
We’ve now started contacting overseas organisations regarding advertising in Square Dance magazines and on websites, to give overseas dancers plenty of time to plan their visit to Adelaide. If you have any personal contacts overseas that you think could help us promote our Convention please let one of the committee know or contact our publicity officer.
We received some valuable feedback from the National Convention Board in Gosford. This will assist us to keep refining our budget. We also received information on changes to National committee structures that will require some modifications to our meeting program. In addition to this, preferences related to round dance programs were given which may result in some minor changes to our draft dance program. This was good information and is an ongoing part of our work in progress in developing the whole budget and program for the weekend.
