Article for Round Up June 2014

Have you registered for next year’s National Convention in Adelaide?
Remember that the Super Early Bird price ends on 31/07/2014.

Even if you weren’t one of the 500+ people who attended this year’s National Convention in Canberra, you will no doubt have heard what a great experience it was with so many dancers from around Australia and some from overseas. Check out our website for photos and also a video of the handover ceremony – you should recognise a few faces!

Our booth attracted lots of attention and 223 dancers took the opportunity to register for Adelaide’s convention next year. We only have a National Convention in South Australia once every 7 or 8 years. So next year will be a great opportunity for South Australian dancers to experience the thrill of attending a convention without having to go interstate. Registration forms are available from our website www.adelaide2015.com, by emailing reg@adelaide2015.com or by phoning Jan on (08) 8445 2580. Alternatively, ask your club caller or committee for a form. Some clubs picked up a pack of forms in Canberra, and others have been sent a pack. If you are a caller or cuer, feel free to send us a resumé once you’ve registered, and we’ll publish it on our website.

Do you want to have a stall at next year’s convention, or do you know someone who might? We will have a basketball court sized hall for stall holders, and we’d like to fill it up with as many stalls as possible. If you make or sell square dance related items or other interesting merchandise let one of the committee know, or email secretary@adelaide2015.com. Having a stall doesn’t mean you miss out on dancing - you can advertise times you are open; so your stall doesn’t need to be manned all the time. Stall holders don’t need to be square dancers – so spread the word amongst your friends. It’s an inexpensive way of displaying and selling their products. Registration for booths closes on 31 January 2015 and can be done on the Convention registration form.

Canberra will be a hard act to follow, but with your participation, Adelaide can do it!
